Prepare your goal so that it doesn't conflict with your strongly-held personal beliefs and values. Strive for congruency! List out why you want it: Sell yourself!
Make sure it's written down. Carry it with you at all times. Think about it. Visualize it. look at it every day.
Make the goal specific.
Make sure it is your goal, and not someone else's.
Ask yourself, "Am I ready and willing to pay the price to attain this goal?"
"Giving-up Goals" help you eliminate something negative from your life (sugar, caffeine, alcohol.) You can tell people about these.
"Going-up Goals" help you advance in your job. Be careful who you tell about these.

Know what you have to do to get out of your comfort zone.
Look at your level of Fear of Failure. What is the worst that could happen if you fail at this goal~.
Goal language: active, positive verbs, and assumptive statements.
List out possible obstacles (negative people, time, money.)
List out your strengths (your personality, people who can help you.)
Set a goal achievement date.
Break it down into smaller, measurable parts.
Prepare a plan to achieve these smaller parts.
